The second edition of the international scientific project NEMO Innovation Camp, organized by OMiLAB (Open Model Initiative Laboratory), took place in Greece from July 27–31, 2026. This year’s event was hosted by the International Center for Science and Culture: Greek-Austrian Cultural Center in Chalkida. This initiative continues and expands on the ten-year tradition of the NEMO Summer School. The week-long program included a series of expert lectures on digital transformation and hands-on design workshops conducted using the laboratory infrastructure (OMiLAB). The culmination of the program was the awarding of the European Innovation 5.0 Certificate to participants as part of the CoDEMO (Co-Creative Decision-Makers for 5.0 Organizations) project.
The main theme of this year’s event was groundbreaking innovation using artificial intelligence, particularly the design of business scenarios supported by AI technologies. The workshop addressed the application of artificial intelligence decision-making models in areas such as healthcare, industry, agriculture, emergency services, digital security, and energy. The scientific and methodological aspects of the event were overseen by a Steering Committee composed of Prof. Dimitris Karagiannis (University of Vienna), Prof. Knut Hinkelmann (Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz FHNW), Prof. Xavier Boucher (Mines Saint-Étienne), and Dr. Wilfrid Utz (OMiLAB NPO).
The initiative was implemented in collaboration with a consortium of universities from Austria, France, Greece, Italy, Romania, and Germany. During this year’s edition, a multi-year strategic plan was adopted, specifying the venues for subsequent editions: Warsaw (2027), Bergamo (2028), Sibiu (2029), and Berlin (2030). This year’s NEMO Innovation Camp brought together 30 selected participants from around the world, including students, doctoral candidates, and young researchers. The program was developed by lecturers, mentors, evaluators, and business representatives. A panel discussion with the Austrian Ambassador to Greece, Gerda Vogl, also participated in this year’s edition. This year’s edition was attended by scientists from the Faculty of Management at the University of Warsaw.
On behalf of the Dean of the Faculty of Management at the University of Warsaw, Professor Grzegorz Karasiewicz, the Faculty was presented by Professor Witold Chmielarz and Professor Anna Sołtysik-Piorunkiewicz, who also participated in discussions regarding the organization of the next edition of the event at the University of Warsaw. Dr. Anna Nowacka and Dr. Małgorzata Oleś-Filiks participated in the scientific portion of the camp and received Innovation 5.0 Certificates. Next year’s NEMO Innovation Camp 2027 will take place in Poland at the Faculty of Management, University of Warsaw, from July 26–31, 2027.
