Program Objectives:

The first-degree studies in Financial Management and Accounting aim to educate graduates familiar with the research methodology and terminology in the field of management and quality sciences, as well as complementary disciplines such as economics and finance, and legal sciences. The program’s goal is to impart knowledge of the fundamental principles of creating and developing various forms of entrepreneurship and prepare graduates to act in an entrepreneurial manner. The studies aim to develop graduates with the skills and competencies to recognize, diagnose, and solve problems related to financial decisions in organizations and the management of institutions. Graduates should be able to determine the impact of technological, social, political, legal, economic, and ecological environments on financial decisions, the functioning of organizations, and the entire economy. The program seeks to educate graduates with the ability to independently and collaboratively prepare materials related to financial management in organizations, accounting, management of financial institutions, and financial institution strategies. Graduates should be able to present these materials in both Polish and English. The studies prepare students for independent learning, knowledge updating, and adherence to professional ethical standards.

Profile of the Graduate:

In terms of knowledge:

  • possesses knowledge of theories and practices related to financial management and accounting and their place in the system of social sciences, with interdisciplinary perspectives.
  • understands the terminology and research methodology in financial management, accounting, and complementary disciplines (management, economics, legal sciences).
  • has knowledge of the principles, procedures, and practices related to the financial activities of various types of organizations.
  • is familiar with the theories and practices used to recognize, diagnose, and solve problems related to financial management in organizations, accounting, management of financial institutions, and strategies of financial institutions.
  • has knowledge of the functioning of organizations, their various types, goals, structures, operations (functions, activities), cultures, and relationships with the environment.
  • understands legal regulations, economic theories, and models related to the functioning of organizations and the entire economy.
  • knows techniques for analyzing the impact of the external environment on financial decisions in organizations, the functioning of organizations, and the entire economy.
  • knows methods and tools, including techniques for acquiring, analyzing, and protecting data (information) needed to make financial decisions in organizations.
  • understands basic concepts and principles related to the protection of industrial property and copyright and the necessity of managing intellectual property resources.

  • can assess the market, financial, and social effects of decisions and initiatives and present their substantive justification.
  • can independently and collaboratively prepare analyses, diagnoses, and reports on finances, accounting, the functioning of organizations, the sector, and the entire economy.

  • possesses the ability to prepare oral presentations and written works using basic theoretical approaches and various sources in Polish and English.
  • uses a foreign language at the B2 proficiency level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and can use specialized terminology in management.

  • Documents required from candidates qualified for undergraduate extramural studies will be accepted in paper form, according to the dates provided in the IRK system. Details of the organization of document acceptance will be communicated to candidates through the IRK system.

Required Documents from Candidates Qualified for Master’s Degree Studies (part-time):

  • Original or authenticated copy of the diploma of completion of higher education: master’s degree, bachelor’s degree, engineering degree, or an equivalent diploma issued abroad, for the purpose of making a copy and certifying its compliance with the original or authenticated copy.
  • Supplement to the diploma or certified program of completed studies, for the purpose of making a copy and certifying its compliance with the original or authenticated copy.
  • Personal questionnaire containing the candidate’s photo, printed from the personal registration account in the IRK system, and signed by the candidate.
  • Declaration of familiarity with the content of the model contract for payment for educational services at the University of Warsaw.
  • Application for the issuance of an Electronic Student ID (ELS), printed after the candidate uploads their photo in electronic format to their personal registration account – for candidates without ELS UW. Note: The photo must be uploaded to the IRK system in the appropriate format – requirements are published in the IRK system. The photo must then be accepted by the Recruitment Committee; therefore, uploading photos to the system as soon as possible is recommended. Photos that do not meet the requirements specified in the IRK system will be rejected, and the candidate will not be able to print the documents.
  • Proof of payment for ELS (PLN 22) – for candidates without ELS (account number for payment); candidates who are students of UW with ELS UW do not need to obtain a second ID.
  • Declaration of payment for studies.
  • In the case of submitting documents on behalf of the candidate by third parties, an authorization (personal) for the person submitting the documents must be presented (authorization template).
    Note: The document does not authorize the signing of documents on behalf of the candidate. Documents printed from the personal registration account in IRK must be signed personally by the candidate.

Additional Requirements for Foreigners:

  • Confirmation of residence legalization for foreigners staying on the territory of the Republic of Poland.
  • Document confirming the right to study without charge (more information on this matter).

Additional Requirements for Candidates with a Diploma Issued Abroad:

  • Certification of the diploma of completion of higher education in the form of legalization or apostille (more information on this matter).
  • Sworn translation into Polish of the diploma of completion of higher education, legalization, or apostille (if issued in a foreign language) or – in the case of translation abroad other than sworn – translation legalized at a Polish diplomatic mission (more information on this matter).
  • Certificate of diploma nostrification if the document is subject to mandatory nostrification (more information on this matter).
  • Certificate confirming that the obtained diploma of completion of higher education entitles to apply for admission to higher education or continue education in any type of higher education institution in the education system in which the issuing institution operates, with translation into Polish.
  • Proof of knowledge of the Polish language at the B2 level (in accordance with the general requirements specified in the recruitment resolution).
  • Candidates undertaking studies on terms other than Polish citizens also submit a declaration of payment for studies.

Competency Confirmation for Studying in Polish:

Candidates with a foreign diploma are obliged to present a document confirming knowledge of the Polish language at the B2 level (in accordance with the general requirements specified in the recruitment resolution). Candidates who do not have a document confirming knowledge of the Polish language take a qualifying interview checking their knowledge of the Polish language. During the qualifying interview checking the knowledge of the Polish language, the ability to read and understand the text, and the ability to formulate statements in Polish will be assessed. The qualifying interview checking the knowledge of the Polish language will be conducted based on the content of articles from the economic section of the “Rzeczpospolita” newspaper. The maximum number of points possible to obtain from the qualifying interview checking the knowledge of the Polish language: 5. The number of points required to pass the qualifying interview checking the knowledge of the Polish language: 3. The score from the qualifying interview checking the knowledge of the Polish language is not included in the final score. Date of the qualifying interview checking the knowledge of the Polish language (if applicable to the candidate): July 25, 2023.

Qualification Rules for Transfer Studies (this recruitment applies only to candidates studying at other universities than UW):

  • Students of other universities applying for admission to studies at the Faculty of Management UW, on the basis of transfer, must have completed at least the first year of master’s studies, in the Finance, Accounting, Economics field.
  • A ranking list will be created during the qualification process, covering individuals with the highest average from the course of studies.
  • Students admitted to the Faculty of Management will be required to complete program differences.
  • Students wishing to take up studies by transfer should register in the IRK system and upload the following documents to the system:
  1. Certificate of completion of at least the 1st year of studies in the academic year 2022/23, at a university other than UW,
  2. Transcript of records,
  3. Certificate of the average grade from the current course of studies,
  4. Document confirming the settlement of the student with the previous university.

Recruitment Procedure for Candidates for Second-Cycle Studies:
Candidates with a bachelor’s, master’s, engineering, or equivalent degree can apply for admission to the first year of second-cycle studies. Candidates are admitted to studies based on the arithmetic average calculated from:

  • The final grade from the diploma of completion of higher education,
  • The average grades from the course of studies. A ranking list will be created during the qualification process based on the obtained final grade according to the above criteria. Confirmation of competence to study in Polish. Candidates with a foreign diploma are required to present a document confirming knowledge of the Polish language at the B2 level (in accordance with the general requirements specified in the recruitment resolution). Candidates who do not have a document confirming knowledge of the Polish language take a qualifying interview checking their knowledge of the Polish language. During the qualifying interview checking the knowledge of the Polish language, the ability to read and understand the text, and the ability to formulate statements in Polish will be assessed. Application Process for Candidates Applying for Transfer Studies from Another University:

  • Registration for studies by transfer. Note: registration takes place in the IRK system, in the part concerning transfer from another university, not in the open recruitment part. Click here to register for transfer studies from a university other than UW!
  • Upload to the IRK system the required documents for recruitment:
  1. Certificate of completion of at least the 1st year of studies in the academic year 2022/23, at a university other than UW,
  2. Transcript of records,
  3. Certificate of the average grade from the current course of studies,
  4. Document confirming the settlement of the student with the previous university.
  • Check the results of the recruitment and read messages from the Recruitment Committee of the Faculty of Management UW, located on the candidate’s individual account in the IRK system.
  • Submission of a complete set of required documents to the dean’s office of studies. Required documents include:
  1. Certificate of completion of at least the 1st year of studies in the academic year 2022/23, at a university other than UW,
  2. Transcript of records,
  3. Certificate of the average grade from the current course of studies,
  4. Document confirming the settlement of the student with the previous university,
  5. All other documents required from candidates qualified for studies.
