The competencies of the Board of Education are defined by the Study Regulations at the University of Warsaw, and accordingly:

The Board of Education, in line with the guidelines of the Senate and URK, designs the education process in one or several study programs, particularly:

  • develops an education concept in line with the mission and strategy of the University;
  • proposes recruitment principles;
  • prepares proposals for changes in study programs;
  • specifies the maximum number of equivalent courses or ECTS credits to be obtained for a phase of study or an entire programme of study;
  • sets out detailed criteria for changing the form of study for a student;
  • defines the rules for completing and passing professional internships;
  • establishes rules for conducting exams and the conditions for taking exams before the main examination session;
  • specifies detailed rules for the graduation process, including the preparation and evaluation of diploma theses and the conduct of diploma exams;
  • takes into account recommendations from external accreditation and internal evaluation of the quality of education.

The Board of Education, in accordance with the guidelines of the Senate and URK, monitors the education process in one or several study programs, particularly analyzing:

  • the course and results of the recruitment;
  • the course and results of the examination session;
  • results of student surveys and class observations;
  • the course and results of diploma exams;
  • the system of educational support for students, especially infrastructure and library resources used in the education process;
  • the compatibility of the academic and teaching competences of the instructors with the learning outcomes assigned to the course;
  • internationalization of the education process;
  • professional career of the graduates;
  • support for the activities of university student organizations related to the study program.

Within the competencies of the Board of Education is also: providing opinions on the size of groups for financial settlement (in accordance with the work regulations/teaching workload) and criteria for exemptions from tuition fees based on academic performance or scientific achievements (in accordance with the Rector’s decree on fee regulations), etc.
