Admissions schedule for the 2026/2027 academic year

  • Registration in the IRK system: 9 June – 22 July
  • Application fee payment: 9 June – 23 July
  • Submission of results by candidates: 9 June – 26 July
  • Announcement of admission results: 31 July
  • Submission of documents (qualified candidates): 3, 4, and 5 August
(In the event of movement on the waiting list, additional deadlines will be announced in the IRK system.)

Application fee

The application fee for registering for one selected programme, level, and mode of study is PLN 85. If a candidate is required to take a written or oral examination, or attend an interview, the fee amounts to PLN 100. For candidates taking an examination or interview conducted solely to assess proficiency in Polish or English, the application fee remains PLN 85.

The total fee paid must correspond to the number of study programmes selected, each of which is subject to a separate fee.

Candidates should make the payment in advance, no later than by the end of the day following the final day of registration for a given programme. It is recommended to use a payment method that ensures the fastest possible transfer of funds.

Detailed information regarding payment deadlines (date and time) is available in the candidate’s personal registration account under the “Payments” section. This includes both the deadline for making the payment and the deadline by which the fee must be credited to the University of Warsaw’s account. If the fee is not credited on time, it may be considered only upon the candidate’s request, provided the payment was made no later than by the end of the day following the final registration day. Such a request must be submitted to the admissions committee within three days of the publication of admission results.

Payments should be made in PLN or in foreign currencies to an individual bank account generated for each candidate in the IRK system.

Important: Information on payment methods and the exact fee amount will appear in the candidate’s personal registration account under the “Payments” section after registering for a chosen programme or programmes.

Once the payment has been credited to the University’s account, a confirmation will appear in the candidate’s personal registration account. Candidates are responsible for verifying or setting the correct priority for assigning the payment to a selected programme within the specified deadline.

Candidates applying for admission by transfer from another university are exempt from the application fee.

Refund of the application fee

A candidate is entitled—upon request—to a refund of the application fee for one or more study programmes in the following cases:

  • no registration in the IRK system for a given programme,
  • registration for fewer programmes than covered by the fee paid to the University of Warsaw,
  • cancellation by the candidate of the application fee for a selected programme or programmes in their personal registration account under the “Payments” section,
  • the candidate was not considered in the admission process due to payment being made and credited after the deadlines indicated in the IRK system,
  • the programme was not launched due to an insufficient number of applicants.

A refund may also be granted in the case of a justified and documented absence from an entrance examination.

The refunded amount may be reduced by transaction costs.

Refunds are processed by the Head of the Admissions Office after the completion of the admissions procedure, on the basis of a written request signed by the candidate. The request should be submitted either by post to the University of Warsaw Admissions Office, by email, or via a message sent from the candidate’s personal IRK account (tab: “My account” → “Help”), with the subject line “Refund of the application fee.” The request must include the candidate’s IRK identification number and the bank account number for the refund.

Important: Failure to comply with the required subject line, content, or submission format will result in the request not being considered.

Exemption from the application fee

In particularly justified cases, a candidate may apply for an exemption from the application fee by submitting a request to the Rector at least seven days before the end of registration for a given programme. The request should be submitted either in person to the Admissions Office or via the ePUAP electronic submission system.

The Rector makes the decision on the exemption by the final day of registration for the programme, after reviewing the documents attached to the application that justify the request.

Fees for issuing the Electronic Student ID (ELS)

From 1 July 2025, all students holding a PESEL number will have access to the mobile student ID (mLegitymacja) in the mObywatel application as a fully valid form of student identification. This means that candidates with a PESEL number are no longer required to apply for a physical Electronic Student ID (ELS) or pay the associated fee. However, they may still obtain a traditional electronic student ID upon request submitted via USOS and subject to payment.

Candidates without a PESEL number are issued a traditional student ID card. In such cases, one of the required documents is an application for the student ID along with proof of payment.

Qualified candidates can download and print the ELS application form from their personal registration account in the IRK system after uploading their photograph. The application and proof of payment must be submitted within the designated timeframe together with other required admission documents.

The fee for issuing the ELS is PLN 22 and should be paid to the following bank account:

University of Warsaw
Krakowskie Przedmieście 26/28
Bank Millennium S.A.
Account number: 56 1160 2202 0000 0000 7648 6236
Payment reference: fee for issuing student ID

Important:

  • The ELS fee should not be paid before admission to the programme has been confirmed.
  • The individual bank account generated in the IRK system must not be used for the ELS payment.
