Description 

ESG gradually becomes an integral element of organizations, and sustainable development issues are gaining increasing importance. Profit, financial strategy, and business goals remain crucial, but the balance and care for the natural environment and relationships with society are equally important.

  • 8 out of 10 surveyed investors plan to increase their allocation to ESG products over the next two years (PwC).
  • 79% of Polish family businesses see an opportunity for family businesses to become leaders in sustainable development in business (PwC).
  • The global market for green technology and sustainable development is expected to grow by 27.8% annually, from USD 17.8 billion in 2022 to USD 60.7 billion by 2027 (Reportlinker).

In light of new EU directives that will soon apply to our market and increasing pressure from stakeholders, including investors and customers, it will be necessary for managers and employees of companies to deepen their knowledge of ESG factors, their impact on the market, and ways to manage companies in accordance with these criteria.

Choosing the educational offer of the ESG Academy can give you a competitive advantage in the market and express your values. You will gain knowledge that will enable you to make more informed business decisions in line with the principles of sustainable development.

The ESG Academy is organized by the Foundation for the Faculty of Management in collaboration with the Faculty of Management of the University of Warsaw, in cooperation with the Polish Financial Supervision Authority. The partners of the ESG Academy are PwC and IBM.

  • Employment opportunities:

ESG Academy graduates can design, implement, and manage an ESG strategy in their organization. They have knowledge of legal regulations, reporting, green finance, and ESG ratings. The knowledge and skills acquired during the ESG Academy will contribute to advancement to positions such as ESG manager or will help accelerate careers for specialized positions in this area.

Tuition Fees 

Tuition Fees for the academic year 2024/25:

  • Single payment for the entire program – 8,900 PLN
  • Single payment for the entire program – 9,400 PLN
  • Payment in two installments: 4,950 PLN per semester x 2
  • The possible installment plan is spread over eight payments of 1375 PLN each, due on the 10th of each month from October 2024 to May 2025.

Information for individuals whose fees are covered by their employer:

  • Invoices will only be issued after payment.
  • As per the signed agreement, after receiving payment for the studies, the University will issue an invoice in the name of the Participant, indicating the Employer as the payer.
  • Account number for payments made by the employer is available in the tripartite agreement.
  • For individual payments: an individual account number is generated after the student’s enrollment in the University Study Service System (USOS).

Recruitment

Candidates for the ESG Academy can apply if they hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree.

  • The basis for candidacy is registration through the form on the website and completing the required information. Admission to the ESG Academy is decided by the recruitment committee appointed and authorized by the Academy’s director. Recruitment is based on the order of applications in the system.

Qualified candidates submit a complete set of documents:

  1. Application for admission to the ESG Academy
  2. CV
  3. Copy of the diploma of completion of higher education
  4. Commitment to cover tuition costs.

In the case where the candidate holds a diploma from a foreign higher education institution:

  1. Attestation of the diploma of completion of higher education in the form of legalization or apostille
  2. Sworn translation of the diploma into Polish
  3. Certificate of recognition of the diploma of completion of higher education issued abroad or the candidate’s statement about the obligation to provide such a certificate within 30 days of obtaining it, but no later than before the start of the ESG Academy (in the case where the diploma of completion of higher education is subject to mandatory nostrification – certificate of nostrification of the diploma or the candidate’s statement about the obligation to provide a certificate of nostrification within 30 days of obtaining it)
  4. The application, commitment, and CV are printed directly after filling in the data when submitting
  5. Signed agreement on the terms of payment for the ESG Academy (in two copies or three if it is an agreement on the terms of payment for the ESG Academy financed/co-financed by a third party).

She holds a master’s degree in finance and banking from the University of Warsaw and an Executive MBA from London Business School, HEC Paris, NHH, and Warsaw University of Technology. With 20 years of experience in business transformation, investment banking, and global team management, she has worked on M&A, ECM, and DCM transactions for clients in Poland and the CEE region, collaborating with key stakeholders in advisory and project execution. At Société Générale, she successfully implemented a new business service center model for investment banking, including the transfer of roles from France and the UK to Poland. Her career focuses on strategy development, business transformations, process optimization supported by modern technologies, and building long-term client relationships.

Marzena Więckowska

Director of Global Social Engagement, Amazon An experienced corporate expert with a passion for sustainable development and a deep commitment to environmental, social, and corporate governance practices. With over 15 years of experience, including the last 9 years at Amazon, Marzena has shaped numerous sustainable business strategies driving positive changes in organizations. After completing her master's degree in political science at the University of Warsaw and Northwestern University, she gained knowledge about the complexity of integrating ESG in the FMCG, logistics, technology, and retail sectors. Recognizing the growing importance of ESG, Marzena obtained a certificate from the Institute for Sustainability Leadership at the University of Cambridge. Guided by the belief in the power of business to drive positive change, Marzena aims to create a more sustainable world where economic growth is harmonized with social progress and environmental protection.

dr Agnieszka Gajewska

PhD, Partner at PwC A global leader in public services and government at PwC Poland. Over the last 20 years, she has worked globally, supporting governments, international institutions, and the private sector in creating and implementing projects for structural reforms, market functioning, and sustainable development. She has worked in over 40 countries on four continents, focusing on creating and implementing projects supporting the sustainable agenda and infrastructure development. She led projects financing investments exceeding USD 15 billion, including pilot investments using infrastructure funds, Public-Private Partnership transactions, project finance, and the use of funds from aid agencies and development banks. Since November 2020, Agnieszka has led the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) regional practice for Central and Eastern Europe at PwC.

PhD, Associate Professor Holds the position of a professor at the Faculty of Management, University of Warsaw. Her research interests include digital consumer behavior, experiential marketing, and research methodology considering biometrics. With 20 years of experience in lecturing, conducting exercises, tutorials, and seminars in various types of studies in consumer behavior, sociology, and marketing, she ensures that the knowledge she imparts extends beyond existing theories by actively engaging in scientific research and directing research grants related to market behavior. Author and co-author of three books on experiential marketing and dozens of articles published in journals such as the "European Management Journal," "Journal of Services Marketing," and "Journal of Customer Behaviour."

Aleksandra Bańkowska

Partner PwC Oversees the finance and banking practice within PwC Legal. With over 15 years of experience in advising banks and financial institutions, she is a leading ESG advisor in working groups established by the Polish Bank Association. She actively supports financial institutions in implementing disclosures at the entity and product levels according to SFDR, including the development of ESG strategies, sustainable environmental credit criteria, and related counterparty assessments. She also assists in fulfilling reporting obligations resulting from the Taxonomy and delegated acts concerning entities subject to NFRD (KPIs, including the Green Assets Ratio), as well as changes introduced to MiFID II, Solvency II, IDD, UCITS, and AIFMD directives.

dr Daria Ringwelska

Deputy Director of the Insurance Supervision Department, PFSA (UKNF) Holds a Ph.D. and is a graduate of the Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) program. She has over 16 years of experience working at PFSA. As the Deputy Director of the Insurance Supervision Department, she leads teams responsible for ongoing supervision, risk monitoring, and the analysis of capital requirements, along with an assessment of the solvency situation of insurance companies. She joined PFSA in 2006 and has been focused on Solvency II since then, participating in activities such as QIS research, standard SCR formulas, stress tests, and risk analyses in the insurance sector. Since 2007, she has actively participated in EIOPA activities and is currently a member of the Proportionality Committee.

Ph.D. Candidate, Doctoral School of Social Sciences, UW Combines professional work with scientific research in the field of sustainable development. He has several years of experience gained in the Big Four, particularly in the Sustainability & Economics team at Deloitte, where he prepared ESG strategies and developed non-financial reports for major companies in Poland and Europe. Currently working as an ESG expert at PKO BP, he is responsible for disclosures related to the Taxonomy, green product offer and ESG data management. Author of scientific publications on ESG data communication, he has presented at many international conferences organized by, among others, the European Marketing Academy (EMAC).

PhD, Deputy Director at the Institute of Power Engineering Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Management, University of Warsaw. Initiator of the establishment of the Center for Research on Energy Transformation, Mobility, and Climate Change at the Faculty of Management UW. He has research and scientific interests in the competitiveness and internationalization of enterprises, value chains of various sectors of the economy, sources of firm innovation, shared mobility, energy, hydrogen applications, and the challenges of energy and climate transformation. He actively participates in international and national research and advisory bodies, such as the State Environmental Protection Council at the Ministry of Climate and Environment. A graduate of the Faculty of Management at the University of Warsaw and a participant of the Erasmus programs at the Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona, ​​EDGE x Scottish Enterprise and SAIPEKS at Kyungpook National University. A retail enthusiast and expert in the fashion industry with over 10 years of experience in marketing, omnichannel and sales support for the Vistula, W.KRUK, Atlantic, Deni Cler, Reebok and adidas brands. Justyna has experience in planning and implementing projects in the field of premium brand building and "best in class" experiences at the point of sale. Currently, he manages DTC&VM Marketing teams responsible for openings and ongoing communication in adidas stores in the Eastern European region. The team's flagship project is adidas WARSZAWA - the largest and most modern sports store in the region, a creative space and cultural place for Gen Z, compliant with LEED certification. In his daily work, he focuses on the needs of the young generation, creating marketing communication consistent with ESG assumptions. Privately, she is a mother of three children and a lover of singing and winter swimming.

Ph.D. Kamil Liberadzki, prof. SGH Kamil Liberadzki is a professor at the Warsaw School of Economics (WSE). He graduated from the Warsaw School of Economics (Finance and Banking Faculty) and the Law Faculty at the Warsaw University, Poland.  At present he is a director of the Regulation Development Department at the Polish Financial Supervision Authority. Kamil Liberadzki has been appointed as a member of the European Banking Authority (EBA) Management Board.  Besides he is a member of the European Banking Authority Board of Supervisors (EBA BoS).

PhD, Assistant Professor at the Department of Financial Systems, Faculty of Management, UW Her research is related to the capital market, the FinTech industry, market risk management, and portfolio management. In 2018, she created the first FinTech Postgraduate Studies in Poland. Since 2014, she has been managing the KAN Investments technology fund, which invests globally in early-stage companies distinguished by unique technology. The investment portfolio includes financial technology companies such as CredoLab (a unique scoring system based on mobile phone data) and Tonik (the first digital bank in Southeast Asia with a banking license in the Philippines).

Senior Manager at PwC Specializes in banking law, insurance law, and payment services. Advised numerous credit and financial institutions on complex regulatory projects related to the implementation of guidelines and recommendations from Polish and European supervisory authorities. As an expert, he advises working groups established by the Polish Bank Association, including sustainable finance and taxonomy groups, supporting the development of interpretative explanations for the financial sector in the field of ESG regulations. In his daily practice, he conducts workshops on the methodology of implementing ESG regulations for banks and asset managers, providing regulatory support in the implementation of ESG disclosures for financial market participants.

He has many years of experience in the commercialization of communication knowledge, preparing business people for negotiations, presentations, and public speaking. He has over 20 years of managerial experience in sales, marketing, and communication, including executive positions in various companies. She conducts research in risk management, including the impact of ESG on bankruptcy risk assessment, ESG risk management, and stock market sensitivity in the ESG area. Partner at PwC Since 1996, he has been involved in advisory services for leading companies in various sectors of the economy, with a particular focus on companies in the energy, oil, and gas sectors. Since 2003, he has held the license of a licensed tax advisor. From 2013 to 2018, he was a managing partner in the legal and tax advisory department in Poland. Tomasz has extensive experience in leading comprehensive tax optimization projects for companies, mainly in the field of corporate income tax, VAT, excise duties, customs, and other public-law burdens. In his professional practice, Tomasz led teams that verified clients' existing business structures and provided comprehensive assistance in preparing and then implementing tax-effective solutions. Tomasz has been a speaker at many national and international conferences on tax law and is the author of numerous articles on tax matters published in industry press.

Head of Regulatory Support Team in the Department of Economic Analysis at the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (UKNF) From the beginning of her professional career, she has been associated with the financial market. She deals with, among others, examining the offer of financial products and services and the phenomenon of greenwashing. She also participates in consultative and legislative processes in the field of ESG regulations. A representative of UKNF in national and international working groups on ESG issues (Platform for Sustainable Finance at the Ministry of Finance, MRiT, EBA, ESMA). She has conducted numerous training sessions on ESG and benchmark indicators. She is a lecturer in Postgraduate Studies in Sustainable Finance at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw. Lecturer and project manager in the field of ESG and FinTech as part of grant programs from the Ministry of Education and Science ("Diamond Grant," "The Best of the Best"). Since 2023, appointed by the Ministry of Finance to support Working Groups on the application of EU Taxonomy and on research, education, and training within the Sustainable Finance Platform. Since 2021, a regulatory advisor and co-author of a series of explanatory interpretations developed in cooperation with the Polish Bank Association and the Chamber of Brokerage Houses, shaping market approaches to changes in sustainable financing (SFDR), non-financial reporting (Taxonomy), trading in financial instruments (MiFID II).

In her professional practice, she deals with the implementation of ESG regulations into the activities of financial institutions and entities related to the financial market, especially in the area of ESG disclosures of financial institutions (SFDR), non-financial reporting (Taxonomy, NFRD/CSRD), implementation of ESG aspects into sectoral laws (MiFID II, IDD, Solvency II, AIFMD, UCITS), sustainable value chain management (CSDD), and greenwashing risk mitigation. She serves as an expert in working groups of the Polish Bank Association, where she co-created interpretative explanations in the ESG area for the financial sector (Explanations I-III regarding Taxonomy and Explanation I regarding MiFID II). She is a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the Jagiellonian University and the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law, as well as a postgraduate program in Capital Market Law at the Warsaw School of Economics.
