Program Objectives:

Second-cycle studies in Finance and Accounting Management aim to educate graduates with advanced knowledge and a profound understanding of the methodology and terminology in the field of financial management and accounting, as well as complementary disciplines such as economics and finance, and legal sciences.

The program aims to educate graduates who possess knowledge of the principles of creating and developing various forms of entrepreneurship, ready to act entrepreneurially on both national and global scales. The program seeks to equip graduates with the skills and competencies to recognize, diagnose, and solve complex and atypical problems related to financial decisions in organizations and the management of institutions. Graduates should also be able to determine the impact of the technological, social, political, legal, economic, and ecological environment on financial decisions, the functioning of organizations, and the overall economy. The studies aim to produce graduates with the ability to independently and collaboratively prepare papers on complex and atypical issues related to financial management in organizations, accounting, the management of financial institutions, and the strategies of financial institutions. Graduates should be able to communicate these findings effectively in both Polish and English. The program’s goal is to prepare graduates for self-directed learning, continuous knowledge updating, and supporting others in these areas, all while adhering to and developing professional ethical standards.

Location of Classes:

Classes take place at the Faculty of Management, University of Warsaw, at ul. Szturmowa 1/3, Warsaw. Classes are held from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to (at the latest) 7:00 PM.

Profile of the Graduate

In terms of knowledge, the graduate:

  • possesses in-depth knowledge of theories and practices related to financial management and accounting, their place in the system of social sciences, and their substantive and methodological connections to scientific disciplines. Views financial management and accounting as interdisciplinary sciences.
  • knows and understands in-depth the terminology and research methodology in the field of financial management and accounting, as well as in complementary disciplines (management, economics, legal sciences).
  • has in-depth knowledge of the principles, procedures, and practices related to the financial activities of various types of organizations.
  • in-depth knowledge of theories and practices used to recognize, diagnose, and solve problems related to financial management in organizations, accounting, the management of financial institutions, and the strategies of financial institutions.
  • in-depth and organized knowledge of the functioning of organizations, their various types, goals, structures, operations (functions, activities), cultures, and relationships with the environment.
  • in-depth knowledge and understanding of economic theories and models related to the functioning of organizations and the entire economy.
  • in-depth knowledge and understanding of legal regulations regarding the functioning of organizations and the entire economy.
  • advanced techniques for analyzing the impact of the external environment on financial decisions in organizations, the functioning of organizations, and the entire economy.
  • advanced methods and tools, including techniques for acquiring, analyzing, and protecting data (information) needed to make financial decisions in organizations.
  • knowledge and understanding of concepts and principles related to the protection of industrial property and copyright, as well as the need to manage intellectual property resources.
  • knowledge of the principles of creating and developing various forms of entrepreneurship on a national and global scale.

In terms of skills:

  • can correctly interpret complex and atypical social, political, legal, economic, and technological phenomena and their impact on financial decisions, the functioning of organizations, and the entire economy.
  • analyzes proposed solutions to complex and atypical financial problems related to the functioning of enterprises and proposes appropriate resolutions.
  • can independently analyze complex and atypical decision-making situations and make the right choices.
  • can comprehensively assess the market, financial, and social effects of decisions and initiatives and present their substantive justification.
  • can independently and collaboratively prepare analyses, diagnoses, and reports on complex and atypical issues related to financial management, accounting, the functioning of organizations, the sector, and the entire economy.
  • can use advanced information and communication tools in their work.
  • competently justifies and criticizes proposed solutions.
  • independently seeks information in scientific literature and legal acts, including in foreign languages.
  • formulates research problems and hypotheses, embedding them in relevant literature, selecting methods for their solution, and conducting an analysis for their resolution.

  • has the ability to cooperate, work, and lead in larger or smaller groups, assuming various roles in teams, demonstrating leadership, communicativeness, conscientiousness, and perseverance.
  • understands the need to complement and improve acquired knowledge and skills, including in doctoral and postgraduate studies.

In terms of social competencies:

  • can make critical assessments of complex situations and phenomena related to financial management in organizations, accounting, the management of financial institutions, and the strategies of financial institutions.
  • can think and act entrepreneurially on a national and global scale.
  • shows sensitivity to ethical and social issues, as well as cultural differences, and is ready to develop industry ethical standards.

  • Required documents from candidates qualified for master’s studies will be accepted in paper form during the dates specified in the IRK system. Details of document submission will be communicated to candidates through the IRK system.

Required documents from candidates qualified for full-time master’s studies:

  • Original or authenticated copy of the diploma of completion of higher education studies: master’s, bachelor’s, engineer’s, or an equivalent diploma issued abroad, for the purpose of making a copy and certifying its conformity with the original or authenticated copy.
  • Diploma supplement or certified program of completed studies, for the purpose of making a copy and certifying its conformity with the original or authenticated copy.
  • Personal questionnaire containing the candidate’s photo, printed from the personal registration account in the IRK system, and signed by the candidate.
  • Declaration of familiarity with the content of the model contract for educational services at the University of Warsaw.
  • Application for the issuance of the Electronic Student ID (ELS), printed after the candidate uploads their photo in electronic format to their personal registration account – in the case of candidates without ELS. NOTE: The photo must be uploaded to the IRK system in the appropriate format – requirements are published in the IRK system. The photo must then be approved by the Recruitment Committee, so please upload photos to the system as soon as possible. Photos that do not meet the conditions specified in the IRK system will be rejected, and the printout of documents by the candidate will not be possible.
  • Proof of payment for ELS (PLN 22) – in the case of candidates without ELS (account number). Candidates who are students at UW and already have ELS do not need to obtain a second ID.
  • In the case of submitting documents on behalf of the candidate by third parties, an authorization (personal) for the person submitting the documents must be presented (authorization template).
    NOTE! The document does not authorize signing on behalf of the candidate. Documents printed from the personal registration account in the IRK must be signed personally by the candidate.

Additional requirements for foreigners:

  • Confirmation of the legalization of stay for foreigners staying on the territory of the Republic of Poland.
  • Document confirming the entitlement to undertake studies free of charge (more information on this subject).

Additionally, from candidates with a diploma issued abroad:

  • Certification of the diploma of completion of higher education studies in the form of legalization or apostille (more information on this subject).
  • Sworn translation into Polish of the diploma of completion of higher education studies, legalization or apostille (if prepared in a foreign language), or – in the case of translation abroad other than sworn – translation legalized at a Polish diplomatic mission (more information on this subject).
  • Certificate of recognition of the diploma of completion of higher education studies if the document is subject to mandatory recognition (more information on this subject).
  • Certificate confirming that the obtained diploma of completion of higher education studies entitles to apply for admission to higher education or continue education in any type of higher education institution in the education system in which the institution issuing the document operates, with a translation into Polish.
  • Declaration of payment for candidates undertaking studies on terms other than Polish citizens.
